Alien life (maybe) in a bottle
UANews
Researchers bombarded a sample of gases found on Titan - Saturn’s largest moon - with UV light and discovered they could detect key building blocks to life as we know it. They found compounds containing nitrogen that are considered essential precursors to the development of living organisms. It’s the first time such an observation has been made in a laboratory.
So what? The findings suggest that Titan could be a good candidate for extraterrestrial life. Since Earth’s early atmosphere is believed to have been very much like Titan’s, the results also help us understand how Earth became a life-rich planet.
