Plant-powered propulsion

PhysOrg.com

Researchers have developed a method for producing large amounts of hydrogen from plants. By using a catalyst to jump-start the reaction, and shining light on warm water-loving algae, scientists were able to produce a steady supply of hydrogen at high temperatures.

So what?

It will take lots of hydrogen produced in an energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly manner to make hydrogen cars viable. This new technique brings this clean, alternative energy source closer to that goal.
