Vampire spiders jumped on most

Biologists have found that East African jumping spiders use blood from a mosquito they've eaten as a perfume to attract a mate. The researchers discovered this by feeding male and female spiders a variety of diets – blood, sugar and nectar – then measuring which ones had the most spider suitors.

So what?

The popularity of jumping spiders with blood on their breath may be based on their ability to catch protein-rich prey. The next step is to see if these vampire spiders are as good at breeding as they are at feeding on blood-bloated mosquitoes.
