StarWatch is a Citizen Science experiment which investigates the effect of Earth Hour on night sky brightness.
The question:
Are more stars visible during Earth Hour?
Record the number of stars you can see in the Little Dipper during Earth Hour and compare this with the number of stars visible after Earth Hour.
When:
9:15 p.m. & 9:45 p.m., Saturday, March 27th.
Where:
Your backyard, a park, the sidewalk. Anywhere with a view of the night sky!
Why:
The change in night sky brightness indicates the amount of energy wasted through light pollution. Comparing this year's results
with last year's results tell us if more lights were turned out.
